12th International Yoga Day 2026 (Photos)

The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and participation at Vivekananda Cultural Centre on 21 June 2026. The programme was organized around the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being throughout all stages of life.

The event commenced with a soulful bhajan session presented by the students of the Yoga Instructor Course. Following the assembly of participants in orderly rows, prayers were offered along with floral tributes, creating a serene and uplifting atmosphere.

The gathering was warmly welcomed by Ms. Jaya Dhulipala, who emphasized the significance of International Yoga Day and the timeless relevance of yoga in modern life.

The yoga practice session was conducted with clear instructions led by Mr. Naveen, while Ms. Shruthi and Mr. Kowshik demonstrated the various yogic practices on stage, enabling all participants to follow the session with ease and confidence.

Students from the following educational institutions actively participated in the programme:

2. The Lady Willingdon High School

3. Lady Sivaswamy Ayyar Girls' Higher Secondary School

4. Lady Willingdon Institute of Advanced Study in Education

7. Hindu Senior Secondary School, Triplicane

A total of 210 students from these institutions participated in the event. In addition, students from various yoga classes conducted by Vivekananda Cultural Centre and members of the general public joined the celebration, bringing the total participation to more than 350 participants.

The Chief Guest, Shri Gopal Ji, Director of Takraf Organization and a 25 years yoga practitioner, addressed the gathering. He spoke on the transformative power of regular yoga practice and encouraged the students to incorporate yoga into their daily lives, as more number of distractions are catching the young and old minds. He highlighted out of his own experience how yoga not only strengthens the body but also develops mental clarity, emotional balance, and resilience, enabling individuals to lead healthier and more purposeful lives.

In his Benedictory Address, Swami Raghunayakananda Ji Maharaj, Manager, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students, teachers, yoga practitioners, and members of the public. He urged everyone to continue their yoga journey beyond International Yoga Day and reminded them of the special significance of practising yoga at the sacred place where Swami Vivekananda stayed during his historic visit to Chennai. He emphasized that yoga, when combined with noble ideals and self-discipline, becomes a powerful means for holistic development and spiritual growth.

The Chief Guest and participating teachers were felicitated in recognition of their contributions. Certificates and mementoes were distributed to the participants.

One of the highlights of the programme was "Pancha Bhuta Arati" a beautifully choreographed Yoga Dance presented by the students of the Yoga Instructor Course. Depicting the harmony of the five elements of nature, the performance received warm appreciation and enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The programme concluded with the universal prayer "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah", invoking universal peace, happiness, and well-being for all. A group photograph session followed, capturing the spirit of togetherness and celebration.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Jaya Lakshmi, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Swamiji, participating institutions, volunteers, instructors, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

Prasadam was distributed to all the participants, bringing the event to a joyful and fulfilling conclusion.

Devotees Meet 2026 (Photos)

Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai successfully conducted the Devotees' Meet 2026 on 7th June 2026 at the Ramakrishnananda Hall. The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 700 devotees, who gathered to deepen their spiritual life and strengthen their connection with the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.

The event commenced with Vedic chanting by the monks, followed by sessions on Prayer Mantras, Guided Meditation, devotional singing, and inspiring talks by senior monks on the significance of spiritual life and the role of Ramakrishna temples as centres of silent spirituality. A video presentation on the Rameswaram Centre was also screened.

The highlight of the program was the Benedictory Address by Pujaniya Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj (President Maharaj), which was received with deep reverence and devotion by all present. The program concluded with Ramakrishna Sharanam, leaving devotees spiritually inspired and uplifted.

The gathering was a memorable and blessed occasion, fostering devotion, fellowship, and spiritual growth among all who attended.

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony at Rameshwaram Centre (Photos)

A momentous and sacred milestone in the history of the proposed first official Ramakrishna Math Centre at Rameshwaram was marked on 4 June 2026 with the performance of the Bhumi Puja and foundation stone laying ceremony by Most Revered Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, in the presence of monks, devotees, and well-wishers.

The ceremony commenced in the morning with Vedic chanting and traditional rituals invoking the blessings of the Divine for the successful establishment of the Centre. Monks of the Ramakrishna Order, devotees, well-wishers, and local residents gathered to witness this historic occasion.

Following the prescribed worship and rituals, Most Revered President Maharaj ceremonially laid the foundation stone for the proposed Centre. In his blessings, Maharaj emphasized the spiritual significance of Rameshwaram, one of India's most sacred pilgrimage centres, sanctified by its association with father of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. He expressed the hope that the new Ramakrishna Math Centre would serve as a beacon of spirituality, character-building, and selfless service, inspired by the ideals of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna. At present, this Centre functions as a sub-centre of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai.

The proposed Centre aims to become a vibrant hub of spiritual and humanitarian activities in the region. In the first phase, plans include the construction of a temple dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, a Yatri Nivas for pilgrims, a dispensary, a hostel for deserving students, monks’ quarters, and an office-cum-bookstall.

Rameshwaram occupies a unique place in the spiritual geography of India as one of the twelve Jyotirlinga kshetras and a revered pilgrimage destination. The establishment of a Ramakrishna Math Centre at this holy place fulfils a long-felt need for an institution dedicated to spiritual awakening and service to humanity in accordance with the motto of the Ramakrishna Order: “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha” — “For one's own liberation and for the welfare of the world.”

Devotees and well-wishers fervently pray for the successful completion of the Centre and for its growth into a source of spiritual inspiration and compassionate service for generations to come.

Visit of Pujaniya Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji Maharaj to Chennai Math 2026 (Photos)

Most Revered President Maharaj, Srimat Swami Gautamananda Ji Maharaj, visited Ramakrishna Math, Chennai on 26th May 2026. His visit was a source of immense joy and spiritual inspiration to devotees and admirers.

During his stay, Maharaj attended the daily evening Arati at the temple and graciously gave darshan to devotees at Ramakrishnananda Hall. A large number of devotees availed themselves of this blessed opportunity to receive his holy darshan and blessings.

On this auspicious occasion, Maharaj also launched two significant offerings:

Brahmavadin (Journal Archives) on the RKMM Digital Publication platform.
Glimpses of Swami Brahmananda by Swami Yatiswarananda – a AI video presentation.

The visit of Most Revered President Maharaj brought spiritual fervour and joy to the Math, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of meeting him and receiving his blessings.

Kumkum Archana – Summer Camp May 2026 (Photos)

1) Our Balamandir students had the good opportunity of performing Kumkum Archana on Sunday, 17 th May, 2026.

2) Nearly 37 students (24 boys & 13 girls) attended the programme. Our Shloka teacher chanted 108 Mantras on Sri Ramakrishna and the Holy Mother, and the students repeated them and performed the Archana.

3) Nearly 55 parents (male and female) were present. They also repeated the Mantras along with the students.

4) Parents expressed their happiness seeing their children performing the Archana.

5) After the Archana, Swami Raghunayakananda Mj., Manager of the Mylapore Math, gave the Benedictory address in which he advised the students and parents to keep their homes a ‘Bhavanam (Spiritual homes)’, and not a ‘Vanam (Forests)’. To achieve that, these types of practices are necessary, he insisted.

6) Swami Satyaprabhananda gave a brief talk in which he told the students that they are the creators of their own destiny and studenthood is the foundation of life.

7) After the talk, the students took their parents to the main temple to offer their prayers.

8) The programme ended with the distribution of Prasadam to the students as well as the parents.

Phalaharini Kali Puja 2026 (Photos)

Phalaharani Kali Puja was celebrated with devotion at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai on 16th May 2026. The occasion featured Aratrikam, soulful bhajans, a special puja, and an elaborate Arati offered to the Divine Mother. Over 600 devotees participated in the event in person and received prasad, while more than 3500 devotees joined the celebrations online.

Mata Pita Puja – Summer Camp May 2026 (Photos)

1. Our Balamandir Summer Camp students performed Mata-Pita Puja on Sunday, 10th May, 2026.

2. Nearly 32 students and 75 parents (male and female) attended the programme. They were guided in every step by our teachers and volunteers.

3. One of the teachers guided the students through the Puja, which involved offering flowers, Chandan, and Kumkum at the feet of their parents. Then they offered sweet and water.

4. It was followed by the taking up of 20 pledges by the students in front of their parents.

5. After that, parents blessed their children and fed them sweets and water.

6. Swami Dharmisthananda Mj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, gave the benedictory address in which he spoke about the importance of our culture, disciplines, truthfulness, obedience, etc.

7. Swami Apavargananda Mj, Editor of the Ramakrishna Vijayam, talked about the role and responsibilities of parents, and insisted upon the duty of students in moulding their future properly by utilising the opportunities.

8. After that, children took their parents to the Main Temple to offer their prayers.

9. Parents were very delighted to witness such a programme. They expressed their gratitude to the Math authorities.

10. The programme ended with the distribution of Prasadam to all the students and parents.
