The 1st anniversary of Mridangam Music classes, which was launched a year ago on Vijayadashami Day (2021) was celebrated with a simple function where Mridangam students of the past one year, presented their learnings through scintillating performances under the able guidance of Mridangam Master-Vidwan Thiru Raamshankar Babu ji, who in his talk recalling the year-long blessed journey of teaching novices from age group 8 years to 60+ years kept on reiterating the good fortune of learning Mridangam in the special and spiritual ambience of Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC) where Swami Vivekananda, an expert in music stayed for 9 days in February 1897.

Nine participants were awarded certificates by Sri Moahan ji, Vice President–Financial Services, who presided over the function as Chief Guest. Interestingly, himself being a student of Mridangam, he could relate with the struggles undergone by each participant, and inspired everyone with his emphasis on devotion and steady practice to keep performing better.

Swami Raghunayakananda ji, Director of VCC, in his benedictory address, appealed to all to keep in touch with this musical instrument by constant practice and with Vivekananda Cultural Centre and the larger Ramakrishna movement by volunteering in the various activities and programs being conducted for small kids and elders also.

About 30 members–family and friends of Mridangam students–joined the celebrations and encouraged them during their solo performance and along with Mridangam Master.
