Celebration of the historical arrival of Swami Ramakrishnananda at Chennai

A meeting was held today at 10.30 a.m., at Ramakrishnananda Hall, Ramakrishna Math, Chennai to commemorate symbolically the starting of the celebration of the 125^th Year of historical arrival of Swami Ramakrishnananda, at Chennai in 1897 and starting of a new Centre at Chennai.

Rev. Srimat Swami Gautamananda, Vice- President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Adyaksha, Ramakrishna Math Chennai presided over the meeting. Meeting started with Vedaparayanam and Arathi performed to Holy Trio, followed by Bhajans by Swami Sankaratmananda and brahmacharis.

At the outset, Swami Dharmishtananda welcomed the Swamis and devotees gathered at the hall and mentioned about the proposed yearlong celebration of this historic event starting from today. He said on this very day, on 17^th March 1897, Swami Ramakrishnananda Maharaj arrived in Chennai and initially started the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai.

Swami Suhadevananda, Secretary, Chennai Vidyapith addressed the gathering and mentioned about the contribution made by Swami Ramakrishnananda and quoted a few incidents.

Swami Satyajnanananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai mentioned that Students home for the poor orphanage boys of Chennai was founded in 1905, by Rev. Swami Ramakrishnananda and Sri Ramasamy Iyyangar as Head of the Institution. This ‘Palace of the poor’ serves the orphans and destitute boys. Smt. Harini Varma, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyalaya, T.Nagar, mentioned about the development of Sarada Vidyalaya. Sri S. Varadarajan, former Chairman, BPCL mentioned about the contribution made by Rev. Swami Ramakrishnananda for the overall development of Chennai Math, and upliftment of the poor.

Swami Yadavendrananda who had served a decade in Bangalore Math, narrated a few incidents about Swami Ramakrishnananda at Bangalore, where Swami Ramakrishnananda worshipped Holy Mother as living Durga.

Smt. Bragada mentioned about the schools started by Rev. Swami Ramakrishnanda for the underprovided children of the society in the Mint area and about its overall development at present. Sri. Ashok, Grandson of Sri Najunda Rao, our long-time volunteer of the Math mentioned about the continuous relationship of his family with the Math and recollected the memories of Swamis.

Swami Satyaprabhananda, T.Nagar, said that Swami Ramakrishnananda was a guiding light for all the other Swamis serving in this divine institution. He appealed to the devotees to join hands with the Math in all our activities to continue the seva to the humanity.

Swami Mahamedananda, briefed about our future programme for the next one year as detailed in the V.K magazine in March 2022 issue. He also briefed about the upcoming detailed souvenir of Chennai Math which is expected to be released during Ramakrishnananda Jayanthi in June/July, 2022.

Rev. Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj's Speech :

Rev. Srimat Swami Gautamananda, gave a benedictory address, mentioned about the way in which Swami Ramakrishnananda, used to conduct Arati in the evening in the math dancing with divine touch through the hall, and highlighted the seva conducted by him with personal devotion and dedication. Maharaj also mentioned about the way in which he collected donation walking through the streets carrying a wooden box for the National School which was started in 1906. Today, he said, this school has grown in all spheres like a banyan tree. Maharaj also recollected few interesting incidents of Swami Ramakrishnananda.

The meeting ended with votes of thanks by Swami Dharmishtananda.

சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் 125 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு சென்னைக்கு 17-03-1897 அன்று இதே நாளில் விஜயம் செய்து புதிய ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தினை துவக்கிய சரித்திரப் புகழ் வாய்ந்த நிகழ்வினைக் கொண்டாடும் வகையில், சென்னை ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தில், ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடம் மற்றும் மிஷனின் துணைத் தலைவர் பூஜ்ய ஸ்ரீமத் சுவாமி கௌதமானந்தஜி மகராஜ் அவர்கள் தலைமையில் சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் அரங்கத்தில் சிறப்புக் கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது.

வேத பாராயணம் மற்றும் திருமூவருக்கு ஆரத்தி முடிந்த பின்னர், சுவாமி சங்கராத்மானந்தர் மற்றும் பிரம்மச்சாரிகள் பஜனைப் பாடல்கள் பாடினர்.

சென்னை ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தின் மேலாளர் சுவாமி தர்மிஷ்டானந்தர் கூட்டத்திற்கு வருகை தந்த அனைத்து துறவியர் மற்றும் பக்தர்களையும் வரவேற்று உரை நிகழ்த்தினார். இந்த சரித்திர நிகழ்வினை ஓராண்டு கால விழாவாக கொண்டாட இருப்பதாகத் தெரிவித்தார். சென்னை வித்யா பீடத்தின் செயலர் சுவாமி சுகதேவானந்தர் அவர்கள் தமிழ்நாட்டில் சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் ஆற்றிய தொண்டுகள் குறித்த சில நிகழ்வுகளை நினைவு கூர்ந்து உரையாற்றினார்.

சென்னை ராமகிருஷ்ண மிஷன் மாணவர் இல்லத்தின் செயலர் சுவாமி சத்யஞானானந்தர் உரையாற்றுகையில் 1905ஆம் ஆண்டு சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் ஆசியுடன் ஸ்ரீ ராமசுவாமி ஜயங்கார் அவர்களை தலைவராகக் கொண்டு இந்த மாணவர் இல்லம் மயிலாப்பூரில் ஆதரவற்ற மாணவர்களின் நலனுக்காக துவக்கப்பட்டது என்றும் ‘ஏழைகளின் அரண்மனை” என்று அழைக்கப்படும் இந்த இல்லம் இன்றுவரை நூற்றுக் கணக்கான ஆதரவற்ற மற்றும் அனாதை மாணவர்களுக்கு புகலிடம் அளித்து வருகிறது என்றும் கூறினார்.

தி.நகர் ராமகிருஷ்ண மிஷன் சாரதா வித்யாலயாவின் செயலாளர் ஸ்ரீமதி ஹரிணி வர்மா, சாரதா வித்யாலயா இந்த விழாவைத் தகுந்த முறையில் கொண்டாடும் என்று தனது சிறு உரையில் தெரிவித்தார். ஸ்ரீ எஸ் வரதராஜன் - பிபிசிஎல் இன் முன்னாள் தலைவர் மற்றும் நிர்வாக இயக்குனர் தனது உரையில், ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடம் எவ்வாறு அதன் வளர்ச்சியின் பல பரிமாணங்களில் உயரத்தை எட்டியது மற்றும் ஏழைகளின் மேம்பாட்டிற்காக மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட பல திட்டங்களை விளக்கினார்.

பெங்களுர் ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தில் பத்தாண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் சேவையாற்றிய சுவாமி யாதவேந்திரானந்தர், சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் பெங்களுரில் ஆற்றிய சில அரிய பணிகள் குறித்தும், தூய அன்னை ஸ்ரீ சாரதா தேவியை வாழும் துர்காதேவி என அவர் பூஜித்ததையும் நினைவு கூர்ந்தார்.

திருமதி பிரஹதா தனது உரையில் சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் மின்ட் தெருவில் மாணவர்களுக்காக ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட பள்ளியையும், அந்தப் பள்ளியின் இன்றைய வளர்ச்சியையும் குறிப்பிட்டார். திரு.நஞ்சுண்டராவ் அவர்களின் பேரன் மற்றும் சென்னை மடத்தின் நீண்ட கால தொண்டரான திரு.அசோக் அவர்கள் தனது உரையில், மடத்துடன் தனது குடும்பத்தின் நீண்ட கால தொடர்பை நினைவு கூர்ந்தார்.

தி.நகர் ராமகிருஷ்ணா மிஷனின் சுவாமி சத்யபிரபானந்தர், மதப் பணியைத் தழுவும் அனைத்து துறவிகளின் கலங்கரை விளக்கமாக சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தரைப் புகழ்ந்தார். ராமகிருஷ்ண மடம் நடத்தும் அனைத்து சமூக பணிகளிலும் பக்தர்கள் தீவிரமாக பங்கேற்க வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.

சுவாமி மகாமேதானந்தர் அவர்கள் மார்ச் 2022 மாத, வேதாந்த கேசரி இதழில், நடக்க இருக்கும் ஓராண்டு கால நிகழ்ச்சிகள் குறித்த விவரங்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும், சென்னை மடம் மற்றும் அதன் வளர்ச்சி குறித்த "நினைவு மலர்" வரவிருக்கும் சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் ஜெயந்தி விழாவில் வெளியிடப்பட உள்ளதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடம் மற்றும் மிஷனின் துணைத் தலைவர் பூஜ்ய ஸ்ரீமத் சுவாமி கௌதமானந்தஜி மகராஜ் அவர்கள் ஆசியுரை வழங்கும் போது, சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் பக்தி சிரத்தையுடன் மாலை ஆரத்தியினை எடுத்ததையும், அவர் சென்னை மடத்தில் ஆற்றிய சீரிய தொண்டுகள் குறித்தும் விரிவாக எடுத்துரைத்தார். மேலும் சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணானந்தர் 1906ஆம் ஆண்டு சென்னை மின்ட் தெருவில் சமூகத்தில் பின் தங்கிய நிலையில் உள்ள மாணவிகளுக்கு மகளிர் பள்ளி துவங்குவதற்காக நிதி திரட்டுவதற்கு தனது கைகளில் ஒரு மரப்பெட்டியை ஏந்தி நடந்தே சென்றதையும், மேலும் பல சுவாரசியமான நிகழ்வுகளையும் நினைவு கூர்ந்தார்.

மேலாளர் சுவாமி தர்மிஷ்டானந்தரின் நன்றியுரையுடன் கூட்டம் இனிதே நிறைவடைந்தது.
