On the evening of 20th September 2023, at the premises of Spencer Plaza, Chennai, a momentous chapter was etched in the annals of Sri Ramakrishna Math. The auspicious occasion saw the inauguration of a new Ramakrishna Math publications showroom, a venture graced by the presence of the venerable Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, Vice President of the Ramakrishna Order and Adhyaksha of Chennai Math.

Following this inaugural ceremony by performing a small arati to the Holy Trio, a public assembly was convened at the central area of the Plaza. Swami Suprajnananda, with a countenance befitting the occasion, extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the gathering, setting the tone for an evening steeped in spiritual resonance.

Next, Swami Dharmishthananda took the podium, shedding light on the significance of the newly established bookstall.

A pivotal moment ensued when Sri Balasubramaniam, a distinguished figure at Spencer Plaza, adorned Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj with a garland, a symbolic gesture of reverence and admiration. In his address, Sri Balasubramaniam recounted how the indomitable spirit of Swami Vivekananda had ignited the flames of inspiration within him during his formative years. He eloquently expounded upon the transformative power of books, underscoring their role in shaping character and destiny. He also expressed his willingness to allot a larger area for the bookstall in future.

In a benediction that resonated through the hearts of all present, Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj underscored the profound importance of the literature dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. He articulated how these sacred texts had, and continue to inspire countless souls to lead lives steeped in progressiveness and spiritual awakening. His words resonated deeply, offering a profound insight into the treasures that awaited seekers within those shelves.

The event was graced by the presence of a multitude of devotees, volunteers, and dedicated staff members. Each individual present was graciously offered refreshments and prasad, celebrating the auspicious beginning of the book store.

It is hoped that the people of Chennai, especially the youth, will take full advantage of the bookstall and keep themselves motivated by reading the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda-Vedanta literature.
