The Leprosy Cured but Deformed Persons (LCDPs) availing Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) services at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, were invited by Kamadhenu Charities Trust, Samuditha Foundation, and Kala Shiksha Music Academy to attend a musical event at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai, on 17th December 2024. Around 35 LCDPs participated in the event, which featured a captivating Carnatic vocal performance by Vidwan Shri Saketharaman. The event also welcomed 70 elderly residents from various elder homes in and around Chennai.
The volunteers from Kamadhenu Charities and Shri Saketharaman’s Samuditha Foundation and Kala Shiksha Music Academy warmly received the LCDPs at Narada Gana Sabha in the evening and assisted them in being comfortably seated. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the 90-minute classical performance delivered by Shri Saketharaman and his accomplished team.
Following the performance, Shri Saketharaman and his wife, Dr. Vidya Saketharaman, engaged with the LCDPs and volunteers. They expressed deep respect for the CBR services provided to empower LCDPs through efforts on restoring dignity in line with our Bharathiya values and shared their willingness to support these efforts in the future. They commended the dedication of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, in restoring dignity to the lives of LCDPs and honoured the LCDP volunteers, describing this sewa as a divine act.
In a heartfelt gesture, Shri Saketharaman and Dr. Vidya Saketharaman personally distributed dinner food packets to all the LCDPs. They also expressed interest in exploring the possibility of organizing a larger-scale event for Divyangjan, including LCDPs.
The event concluded with thanks extended to the Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, and Kamadhenu Charities for their meticulous arrangements, including transportation and food, and ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of all LCDPs.
