A Five day workshop on Garland Making (Mala Grathana) for children aged 8 to 15 years was conducted from 25th to 29th April between 5 to 7 pm at Vivekananda Cultural Centre Campus. Coconut leaf and Mango leaf Thoranams, Simple flower garlands, Cotton wicks and garland were taught to enthusiastic kids who learnt quickly from kind and patient experts. Around 15 children participated in this fragrant and ancient art form, believed to enhance creativity and has proved to be very helpful for kids and adults with disabilities like dyslexia, anxiety, depression and other mental illness. Kumari Lavanya was the Resource Person and Workshop Instructor for this program.
