MALA GRATHANA (Workshop on Ancient Indian art of garland making)

A Four day (Two weekend) workshop on Garland Making (Mala Grathana) for adults aged above 16 years was conducted on 23rd-24th-30th April & 1st May  at Vivekananda Cultural Centre Campus. Basic Saram, types of Veni, Dindu Malai with thread and banana fibre, basic net pattern garland, Thoranams with coconut and mango leaves, Killi (parrot with leaves), Flower Petal Garland, and traditional Jadai were taught from 8:30 am to 5 pm on two weekends. 38 registered participants actively learned the ancient and therapeutic art of garland making from Sri Rahool ji and Sri Venki Balaji. The function was inaugurated by Revered Swami Sarvarupananda ji, Senior Monk from Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi. Swami Mahamedhananda ji addressed the participants. Sri Pratheek and Sri Keshav Venkataraghavan, experts in Art and culture enlightened the participants on different days.
