National Youth Day 2023

 In connection with National Youth Day 2023 , National Youth Day & Prize distribution for the Competitions on 12.01.2023


Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, conducted various competitions such as Essay Writing, Elocution, Painting and Quiz Programme in connection with National Youth Day on 12 January 2023. The basic material for the above competitions prescribed were the books “Swami Vivekananda The Life and Legacy” (English)and “Swami Vivekanandar Vazhkaiyum Seydiyum” (Tamil) by Swami Tapasyananda former President of Chennai Math. 

1,653 students from 17 Schools participated in the above competitions.

The function started with Vedic Chanting by Swamis and Brahmacharins of Sri Ramakrishna Math, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu by students of Lady Sivaswami Iyyer Girls Higher Secondary School, Mylapore, Chennai. Swami Shankaratmanandaji started function with an opening song on Swami Vivekananda’s call to youth, inspiring the students to rise up to the occasion. 

Welcome Address was delivered by Swami Dharmishthanandaji, Manager. 

Two students participated in the Elocution viz., Sharmi from Smt. Mohini Saraogi Vivekananda Vidyalaya and Farzana from Vivekananda Centenary Girls Higher Secondary School gave a gist of their presentation.

A Special talk on “Swami Vivekananda’s Message to the Youth of India was delivered by Sri L.S. Sathiyamurthy, Judge, Commercial Court, Chennai. Swami Vivekananda used to say that the best teacher is to come down to the level of students. Sri L.S. Sathiyamurthy followed this message of Swamiji in letter and spirit and addressed and inspired the students in a simple language and the students also reciprocated. This was followed special talk by Revered Swami Sarvaroopananda, a senior monk of the Order.

“Swadesh Mantra” by Vivekananda was recited by Vivekananda Junior Forum of Jaigopal Garodia Matric Hr. Sec. School, Chennai & which was repeated by other students.

Two Prize Winners from Essay Writing & Elocution namely Diyaa and Shivakartikeyani delivered their presentation. 

Four students namely K. Shruthika, Gokula Priyan, Sai Sanjay, Dekshika shared their experience while reading the book on “Swami Vivekananda Life and Legacy” the theme book for the competitions.

Sri Kamalanathan, Judge for our Painting Competition and Smt. Sudha, Judge for Elocution shared their experience while judging the capacity of the students in presenting their experience in their drawing and elocution where subject or the topics were announced on the spot by picking the chits.

Revered Swami Shukadevanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Chennai addressed the students and enlightened the students with few incidents from the Swami Vivekananda, also quoted importance of Education as prescribed Vivekananda 125 years ago during His lectures in Madras.

Cash Prizes along with the Certificates gift-books were distributed to all the Winners. Also books and the Participation Certificates were distributed to all other participants in the National Youth Day Competitions at respective school level. 

The function came to an end with Vote of Thanks by Swami Shashishikhananda and National Anthem.

Lunch Prasadam was offered to all the gathering, about 350 participated in the National Youth Day program.
