LCDPs are generally excluded from household functions and festivals due to prevailing social stigma. However, this year marked a significant change as a grand Navarathri festival was joyfully celebrated at the home of a dedicated volunteer from Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, who tirelessly serves these marginalized LCDPs.

On October 23, 2023, around thirty Leprosy Cured but Deformed Persons (LCDPs) gathered at the volunteer's residence at 8 am on Camp Road, Selaiyur, Chennai, to take part in the festivities with great enthusiasm. The day began with breakfast, and the house was adorned with a vibrant Navarathri Kolu display featuring divine dolls and figurines. The event was graced by the revered Swami Panchavakthrananda from Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai. Swamiji performed the Ashtothra Namavali Pooja to Holy Mother, worshiped various deities and the Kolu, and delivered a benedictory speech. He engaged with the LCDPs, offering blessings not only to them but also to the volunteer's family and volunteers dedicated to this noble cause. As a gesture of care and respect, Swamiji honored all the LCDPs by distributing clothes to them. LCDPs wore their new attire and enjoyed a joyful time together. Swamiji, along with all LCDPs and volunteers, took part in the Lunch Prasad arranged by the Volunteer in his house. This event promoted a sense of joy and togetherness among all participants through celebrating a divine festival with these neglected Divyangjan.
