Swami Vivekananda said India can progress only through Education. Swamiji emphasized on the Education that gives virtue, mental strength and makes one stand on one's own feet. Youth should acquire knowledge and skills with the aim of contributing to the society. Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, Sri Ramakrishna Math Chennai organized a seminar on 28th May 2022 Saturday on the importance of improving education to make students a better human.
The function started with the Veda parayanam by Monks and Arati to the Holy Trio by Swami Satyajnanananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Student Home, Chennai. Tamil Thai Vazhthu was sung.
Welcome Address by Swami Dharmishthananda
Swami Dharmishthananda, Manager, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, in his welcome speech said that education would be the best tool to prove Swami Vivekananda's claim that India will conquer the world through spirituality.
Introductory speech by Swami Apavargananda
Swami Apavargananda, Editor of the Tamil monthly magazine Sri Ramakrishna Vijayam, in his introductory speech said that this seminar’s aim is to stress the need for ‘Man Making Education’ as emphasised by Swami Vivekananda.

He noted that the purpose of the seminar is to discuss the above three points and to improve Student’s relationships, self-confidence, common sense and spiritual wisdom through education.
Speech by Dr. Balagurusamy
Dr. Balagurusamy, former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai was the Chief Guest for the program. Speaking on the topic ‘Education Required for the Present’, he stressed the need for change in today's education system. Education should develop Courage, Service Mindedness and Support for National Development. He opined that Online education is not a substitute for school education. India will grow economically only if education develops in the way shown by Swami Vivekananda. The National Education Policy makes such necessary changes. He emphasized that the need of the hour was to implement this.
Speech by Swami Atmashraddhananda
Swami Atmashraddhananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kanpur delivered a speech on the topic of ‘The Education as Envisaged by Swami Vivekananda’. He said, Swami Vivekananda is a Spiritual Philosopher, he sowed the seed for freedom many freedom fighters. He is a prophet and an educator with many facets. UNESCO has recognised Swami Vivekananda as an educator. Good thoughts will lead to good acts, repeated good acts will inculcate good habits, ultimately developing good ‘Samskaras’ . Education is about taking this to a significant way. This will grow by looking at the life of Great persons and following in their footsteps. There are four pillars to improve education
1. Training to learn
2. Training for implementing what was learnt
3. Ways to live as a better human being
4. Improving relationships
Swami Vivekananda insisted on learning Western Science with Shraddha and Brahmacharya as the base.
Speech by Dr. G. Viswanathan
Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder & Chancellor, VIT University, Vellore said that 6% of total income should be spent on education. Today only 3.5% is spent. Awareness about education is what is needed today. We should work towards providing free higher education. Education is the cause of economic growth. It took the England 57 years, United States 47 years and Asia 10 years to double its productivity. This progress was possible only through education. In the upcoming 25 years, if we are successful in harnessing the youth power through quality education and skill training, India can achieve landmark progress in economic development. Thus, making great changes in education will also lead to improvement in the economy. Government regulations on education should be simplified. The new education policy needs integration. He noted that education should expand at the level of enrolment as well as quality.
Benedictory Address by Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj
Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj Vice President, Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur Math, Kolkata said in his benedictory address that everyone has to study the life of Swami Vivekananda to know how to be good. You need five qualities to live like this.
1. Adherence to truth
2. Pure Life
3. Selfless Service
4. Faith in God
5. Prayer
Teaching these to students will make their lives better.
The participants of the seminar were divided into four groups namely Sri Sankara, Sri Ramanuja, Sri Madhva and Swami Vivekananda. They discussed ways to improve education. Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj presented special gifts to the Chief Guests and blessed them. The program ended with the National Anthem. More than hundred Educationalists, Monks and Devotees from different parts of Tamil Nadu participated in this seminar.
பாரதத்தின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு கல்வியே வழி என்பார் சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர். நல்லொழுக்கம் அளித்து, மன வலிமையைத் தந்து ஒருவரை சொந்தக்காலில் நிற்கும் கல்வியையே சுவாமிஜி வலியுறுத்தினார். இளைஞர்களின் அறிவையும் திறமையையும் விரியச் செய்து அத்துடன் சமுதாயப் பங்களிப்பு என்ற நோக்குடன் கல்வியை மேம்படுத்துவது இன்றைய காலத்தின் கட்டாயம்.
இத்தகைய சூழலில் மாணவர்களை முழுமையான மனிதர்களாக ஆக்குவதற்கு கல்வியை மேம்படுத்துவதன் முக்கியத்துவம் என்ற தலைப்பில் கருத்தரங்கம் ஒன்றை சென்னை ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தின் விவேகானந்தர் மனிதவள மேம்பாட்டு மையம் 28.5.2022 சனிக்கிழமை அன்று ஏற்பாடு செய்தது.

சுவாமி தர்மிஷ்டானந்தரின் வரவேற்புரை
வரவேற்புரை நல்கிய சென்னை ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தின் மேலாளர் சுவாமி தர்மிஷ்டானந்தர் இந்தியா உலகை ஆன்மிகத்தால் வெல்லும் என்ற சுவாமி விவேகானந்தரின் கூற்றை மெய்ப்பிக்க கல்வி சிறந்த சாதனமாக அமையும். அதற்கு அந்தக் கல்வியினை மேம்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்றார்.
சுவாமி அபவர்கானந்தரின் அறிமுக உரை
அறிமுக உரை ஆற்றிய ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண விஜயத்தின் ஆசிரியர் சுவாமி அபவர்கானந்தர், இந்தக் கருத்தரங்கமானது சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் காட்டிய லட்சியக் கல்வியினை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டது. ஆக்கபூர்வமான ஒருங்கிணைந்த கல்வியை செயல்படுத்துதல், சுவாமிஜியின் சிந்தனைகளை ஆய்வு செய்தல், ஆக்கபூர்வமாக நமது கல்வித் திட்டத்தில் உள்ள சவால்களைக் கடந்து தீர்வு காணுதல் ஆகிய முப்பெரும் நோக்கத்துடன், இவற்றைச் செயல்படுத்த ஆக்கபூர்வமான வாழ்க்கைமுறை, உறவுகளை மேம்படுத்துதல், தன்னம்பிக்கை, நல்லறிவு, ஆன்மிக ஞானம் ஆகியவற்றை எவ்வாறு கல்வி மூலம் எடுத்துச் செல்வது போன்றவை இந்தக் கருத்தரங்கத்தின் நோக்கம் என்று குறிப்பிட்டார்.
டாக்டர் பாலகுருசாமியின் உரை
சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கேற்ற அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழக முன்னாள் துணை வேந்தர் டாக்டர் பாலகுருசாமி, தற்காலத்திற்குத் தேவையான கல்வி என்ற தலைப்பில் இன்றைய கல்வி முறையில் மாற்றம் வேண்டும் என வலியுறுத்தினார். தைரியம், சேவை மனப் பான்மை, தேச வளர்ச்சிக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருப்பது ஆகியவற்றை விளக்கும் விதமாக கல்வி அமைய வேண்டும். இணைய வழி கல்வி, பள்ளிக் கல்வி முறைக்கு மாற்றாகாது. சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் காட்டிய வழியில் கல்வி வளர்ச்சி பெற்றால்தான் இந்தியா பொருளாதாரத்தில் வளரும். இத்தகைய தேவையான மாற்றங்களை தேசியக் கல்விக் கொள்கை தருகிறது. இதனை அமல்படுத்துவதே இன்றைய தேவை என்று வலியுறுத்தினார்.
சுவாமி ஆத்மசிரத்தானந்தரின் உரை
சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் காட்டும் கல்வி என்ற தலைப்பில் கான்பூர் ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ண ஆசிரமத்தின் செயலர் சுவாமி ஆத்மசிரத்தானந்தர் சொற்பொழிவு ஆற்றினார். சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் ஆன்மிக தத்துவவியல் இலக்கியவாதி. விடுதலைக்குத் தலைவர்களைத் தயார்ப்படுத்தியவர். அவர் ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி என்பதோடு கல்வியாளர் என்ற பன்முகப் பரிமாணங்கள் கொண்டவர். ஐ.நா.சபையின் யுனெஸ்கோ சுவாமி விவேகானந்தரை கல்வியாளர் என்று சிறப்பித்துள்ளது.
சிறந்த எண்ணங்களை விதைத்து சிரத்தையுடன் திரும்பத் திரும்ப செய்யப்படும் செயல்கள் சிறந்த குண நலன்களை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றன. இதனை உயர் வழியில் கொண்டு செல்வதே கல்வி. இது பெரியோர்களின் வாழ்வினைப் பார்த்து அதன் அடிச்சுவட்டில் செல்வதால் வளர்கிறது. சிறந்த கல்வியை வளர்ப்பதற்கு நான்கு தூண்கள் தேவை. அவை:
1. செயல்படுத்துவதற்கு பயிற்சி
2. சிறந்த மனிதனாக வாழ்வதற்கு வழிமுறைகள்
3. உறவுகளை மேம்படுத்துதல்
4. பயில்வதற்குப் பயிற்சி
சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் ஆன்மிகத்தையும் வேதாந்தத்தையும் வேராகக் கொண்டு பிரம்மச்சரியமும் சிரத்தையும் வழிகாட்ட மேற்கத்திய அறிவியலைப் பயில வேண்டும் என்று போதித்தார் என்று சிறப்பு சொற்பொழிவு ஆற்றினார்.
கல்விகோ விஸ்வநாதரின் உரை
கல்வியால் ஏற்படும் மாற்றங்கள் பற்றி சிறப்புரை ஆற்றிய விஐடி பல்கலை கழகத்தின் நிறுவனர், வேந்தர் கல்விகோ விஸ்வநாதன் அவர்கள், கல்விக்கு மொத்த வருவாயில் 6 % செலவழிக்க வேண்டும். இன்று 3.5% மட்டுமே செலவழிக்கப்படுகிறது. கல்வி குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வே இன்றைய தேவை. இலவச உயர் கல்வி வழங்க ஆவன செய்யப்பட வேண்டும். பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிக்குக் கல்வியே காரணம். உற்பத்தித் திறனை இரட்டிப்பாக்குவதற்கு இங்கிலாந்திற்கு 57 ஆண்டுகள் ஆயின. அமெரிக்காவிற்கு 47 ஆயின. ஆசிய நாடுகளுக்கு 10 ஆண்டுகளில் இது நிகழ்ந்தது. கல்வியின் மூலமே இது சாத்தியம். அடுத்த 25 ஆண்டுகளுக்குள் இந்தியாவிற்கு இளைஞர் சக்தியால் பொருளாதாரத்தில் முன்னேற்றம் ஏற்பட வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது. இந்த வாய்ப்பினை 25 ஆண்டுகளுக்குள் பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். கல்வியில் சிறந்த மாற்றங்களை உண்டாக்குவதால் பொருளாதாரத்தில் முன்னேற்றம் ஏற்படும். கல்வி குறித்த அரசாணை நெறிமுறைகள் எளிமைப் படுத்தப்பட வேண்டும். புதிய கல்விக்கொள்கையில் ஒருங்கிணைப்பு வேண்டும். கல்வி
யானது சேர்க்கை அளவிலும் தர அளவிலும் விரிய வேண்டும் என்று குறிப்பிட்டார்.
ஸ்ரீமத் சுவாமி கௌதமானந்தஜி மகராஜின் ஆசியுரை
கருத்தரங்கிற்கு தலைமை வகித்த உலகளாவிய ராமகிருஷ்ண இயக்கத்தின் துணைத் தலைவரும் சென்னை ராமகிருஷ்ண மடத்தின் தலைவருமான சுவாமி கௌதமானந்தர், பெரியவர்கள் ஒருவன் நல்லவனாக இருப்பதற்கும் நல்ல வழியில் செல்வதற்கும் ஆசி வழங்குவார்கள். நல்லவனாக எப்படி இருப்பது என்பதற்கு சுவாமி விவேகானந்தரது வாழ்வினைப் பயில வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு வாழ்வதற்கு ஐந்து குணநலன்கள் வேண்டும். அவை:
1. சத்திய நெறியைக் கடைப்பிடித்தல்
2. புனித வாழ்வு
3. சுயநலமற்ற தொண்டு
4. இறை நம்பிக்கையுடன் இருத்தல்
5. பிரார்த்தனை செய்தல்.
இதனை மாணவர்களுக்குப் போதிப்பதால் அவர்கள் வாழ்வு சிறக்கும். இந்த கருத்தரங்கம் அதற்கு உதவட்டும் என ஆசி கூறினார். கருத்தரங்கத்தில் பங்கேற்றவர்கள் ஸ்ரீசங்கரர், ஸ்ரீராமானுஜர், ஸ்ரீமத்வர்,
சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் ஆகிய நான்கு குழுக்களாகப் பிரிந்து கல்வியை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கான வழிமுறைகளைக் கலந்தாய்வு செய்தனர். சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களுக்கு சுவாமி கௌதமானந்தர் நினைவு பரிசுகளை வழங்கி ஆசி அளித்தார். தேசிய கீதத்துடன் நிகழ்ச்சி இனிதே நிறைவுற்றது.
இந்தக் கருத்தரங்கத்தில் தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதியிலிருந்து நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட கல்வியாளர்களும், துறவிகளும், பக்தர்களும் பங்கேற்றனர். இந்த நிகழ்ச்சி மிக பயனுடையதாக இருந்தது என்று கல்வியாளர்கள் தங்களது குறிப்பில் தெரிவித்தனர்.
