Honourable Chief Minister J Jayalaitha Inaugurates Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Chennai 2014

The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Selvi J Jayalalithaa, inaugurated on 8th July 2014 the newly constructed Vivekananda Cultural Centre located in the Vivekanandar Illam campus through video conference.

The Chief Minister had given a plot of land near Vivekanandar Illam on lease to Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, for 99 years to establish this Centre. On 27th February 2013, she had laid the foundation stone and given a financial grant of Rs 2 crore for the construction of the Centre.

Sri Ramakrishna Math and Mission centres of Chennai, express their gratitude to the Chief Minister for her support in promoting Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of social upliftment by developing values like self-confidence, humanistic impulse, service attitude etc. in the younger generation. With the sustained support of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Math reinforces its commitment to serving the society.

The Vivekananda Cultural Centre shall be an ‘Academy for Human Excellence’ to train the participants, especially the underprivileged youth, in achieving excellence through value assimilation and in adopting healthy, holistic and culturally enriched lifestyles.

The Centre proposes to conduct programmes like Personality Development Courses, Youth Empowerment and Workshops for professionals, Seminars, Non-formal Research, Language Studies, Cultural Studies, Cultural Enrichment and Socio-Economic Development.
