The Rural Unit of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Meyyur celebrated Gho Puja and Mattu Pongal in a spirit of devotion and gratitude, reflecting the traditional Indian ethos of reverence towards nature and cattle.
Gho Puja was performed with due sanctity, during which cows were worshipped and special prayers were offered for the well-being of cattle, agricultural prosperity, and harmony in rural life. The observance highlighted the indispensable role of cattle in sustaining rural livelihoods.
The celebration of Mattu Pongal followed, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of about 600 villagers from nearby villages, volunteers and beneficiaries. Traditional Prasad was prepared and offered, fostering a sense of thankfulness, cultural values and community bonding.
Through this activity, the Mission reinforced the values of gratitude, compassion, and respect for all living beings, in harmony with the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.
