From August 9 to13, 2024, SAKSHAM Savita and Sri Ramakrishna Math organized a three-day Tirtha Yathra for 66 LCDPs, including participants from Chennai and Madurai, to sacred sites in Sivaganga, Karaikkudi, and Rameshwaram. The pilgrimage was inspired by an invitation from Dr. E.L. Ramanathan to celebrate his father’s Sadabhishekam in Devakottai—a landmark event where LCDPs were welcomed as honored guests without discrimination.
The journey covered historic temples such as Kodunkundranathar Temple, Karpaga Vinayagar Temple - Pillayarpatti, Kundrakudi, Thirupathur, Fort and Temples at Thirumayam and Ramanathaswamy Temple, as well as sites like Dhanushkodi and Navapaashana Navagraha Temple. LCDPs participated in rituals, recited hymns, and experienced darshan with dignity. Volunteers ensured seamless travel, accommodations, and ulcer care.
The pilgrimage highlighted the growing acceptance of LCDPs in mainstream society, showcasing the impact of awareness and rehabilitation initiatives. It was a transformative experience for the LCDPs, fostering inclusion, spiritual growth, and lifelong memories.
