On Tuesday–3rd October, 2023, a Valedictory session was held for 13 participants of 33rd batch (Weekdays) of Thanjavur Painting Course. Enthusiastic participants shared their childlike journey back to school days, while learning to draw and paint from scratch–this ancient art form—in the Holy Ambience of Vivekananda Cultural Centre. A few of them shared how they overcame depression/low-feelings/negativity by just coming to this Holy campus—where Swami Vivekananda stayed for nine days–and imbibing the positive vibrations available in abundance, especially while being totally absorbed in the drawing and painting of gods pictures. The picture completed this time was of Bhagavan Sri Rama.

In his benediction, our Director Swamiji, addressed the various suggestions shared by participants and encouraged them to create more pictures, for which support in the form of basic material like outlines or sketches of gods would be shared so that all participants could continue their practise at home and remain in touch with this ancient and meditative art-form.

As this traditional art-form requires a greater degree of maturity, depth of understanding and a lot of patience, any spirited student from 18 to 60 years can join this course! For more details, click rkmvcc.org
