The second day of Vivekananda Navaratri was observed with devotion and inspiration at Vivekananda Illam, Chennai, drawing devotees, students, and well-wishers in large numbers. The evening’s programme beautifully combined culture, scripture, reflection, and drama, highlighting the life-giving message of Swami Vivekananda.
The programme commenced with a vibrant cultural presentation titled “Janathin Anandam” by the students of Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School, Mylapore. The performance reflected spiritual values and universal harmony, setting a joyful and uplifting tone for the evening.
This was followed by a reading from Swami Vivekananda’s Chennai Lecture — “Reply to the Address of Welcome.” The selected passages reminded the audience of Swamiji’s powerful words delivered in Chennai and their continuing relevance today.
Next, Swami Atmaghananandaji, Senior Monk of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, delivered a Tamil talk on “Vivekananda in Chennai.” He highlighted Swamiji’s historic association with the city, his influence on the youth, and the role Chennai played in taking his message to the world.
The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Sri Vasan, Executive Vice-President, Bounteous x Accolite (India), Chennai, on “Swami Vivekananda’s Thoughts on Education.” He emphasized value-based education, character building, and the practical application of Swamiji’s ideals in modern life and institutions.
A major highlight of the evening was the stage play “Pattinattar” presented by Tamizharasan Theatres. The powerful dramatic presentation conveyed deep spiritual truths and renunciation through engaging performance, earning warm appreciation from the audience.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Swami Apavargananda, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, performers, organizers, and devotees for making the event meaningful and successful.
